Editing

I have experience editing both technical and creative writing. I’ve also worked as a fact checker and archival researcher.

As Editor in Chief at PRISM international, I coordinate production and distribution for our print magazine; manage our finances, including grant writing; and assist with events, contests, and other special projects. I also help copy edit all our issues (that’s 120 pages an issue, three times a year, with four rounds of editing each). In 2023, I took and passed Simon Fraser University’s copy editing course.

I worked at Everlaw for two years as part of their excellent Product team, which honed my technical writing and editing skills. I worked on both internal documentation (defining the scope of features in development) and user-facing resources.

While studying art history and archaeology in college, I did archival research and fact checking for the Natural History Museum of LA County; The Bowers Museum; and Professor Nayan Shah (for his book Refusal to Eat), among others. I also digitized material for the ONE Archives, one of the largest LGBT archives in the world.

I’m currently interested in expanding my fact checking and research experience while continuing to work in magazines and online publications. That said, I enjoy all kinds of editorial work and am still available for freelance editing projects. Get in touch if you’re interested.
